The majority of the Colts squad have all played together since attending FTCFC’s Saturday Morning Club. We have also added a few players following thorough Deadline Day negotiations to assemble a squad that is currently competing at the highest level in the SPL. All the boys have developed significantly as footballers over the last few years and we hope to see them continue to progress as they make the transition from 7v7 to 9v9 in the coming seasons. Our footballing mantra is keep it “Simple, Easy, Quick”, but most importantly to have fun!
Strong Performance from the Colts U10s in Final GamePosted on April 27, 2015FTC v AFC Brooklands A nice way to finish the season with a strong performance and a great result. Whether it was the cold morning or the fact that we hadn't had a match for a few weeks we started off a bit sluggishly, but as the first half developed we managed to get our passing game going. We created a number of opportunities but the Brooklands keeper was equal to them. Meanwhile at the other end Will was doing some great blocks and fancy footwork to keep the Brooklands' strikers at bay. We went one up after a corner wasn't cleared and Harvey found himself in a good position to slot home. We then had a few more opportunities before the ref blew the half-time whistle. We spoke about upping our energy and effort levels at half-time and the boys certainly did that in the second half as we started to press Boorklands more. This resulted in us winning the ball back earlier and then breaking swiftly and the boys scoring a number of goals in the second half through a combination of Jake and Ollie. We were unlucky not to score more with both Oscar and Harvey also going close. Brooklands also had chances but some great saves from Will as well as some great tackles and blocks from James and Eelis saw another good defensive display. Brooklands did finally get the goal they deserved when a fierce shot from outside the box fizzed into the corner Man of the Match: Eelis - great tackles, positioning and passing out from the back today Effort Award: Ollie - scored a couple of goals and tracked back well Special mention: Jake - a great hat-trick! Thanks to Mel and Gerald for the fruit! Today was our last league match of the season and quite probably our last game at Calthorpe Park after four and half years! The boys have been fantastic to work with this season and we look forward to their move to 9-aside next year.
Colts U10s Put on a Sparkling PerformancePosted on March 31, 2015Despite the blustery conditions the boys were excellent again and produced a great performance against GPR! With the exception of the the beginning of the second half I felt we controlled the whole game. We were much stronger on the ball today from when we last played them which allowed us to control the ball and dictate the play. Great passing was again evident but also a real determination to win the ball, track back and pressure the opposition. The goals from Ollie and Jake all came from great team play before hand, whether it was a simple lay off or a well-weighted pass. A superb team effort! Man of the Match - Harvey - An awesome performance today saw Harvey work hard, track back and ping some wonderful passes Effort Award - Ollie - great to see Ollie working hard on the defensive part of his game today covering a lot ground to help out his team mates Thanks to Rob and Kim for the fruit Get well soon Oscar
Colts Rue Missed OpportunitiesPosted on March 4, 2015Yesterday’s game was a fair result against a good GPR side. We played some good stuff at times and moved the ball down the pitch with some great passing moves, but overall we didn’t trouble the opposition too much on the day. I felt that GPR just had a bit more strength on the ball and a bit more “game intelligence”, something that our boys will learn. While we didn’t play at our best we did a lot of good things and some of the one touch passing through the middle of the park did open up GPR on serval occasions and we created some good opportunities throughout the match. All the boys showed great effort and didn’t stop working throughout the match. Even in the last few minutes they were pushing forward and I think we were unlucky not to have got a goal over the course of the 50 minutes. Man of the Match – Will had a busy morning’s work and pulled off some great saves Effort Award – Harvey – another busy performance from Harvey, showing good energy and determination Thanks to Steve and Nikki for the fruitView older reports →
