Panthers smash seven again!

Premier Division League Match

Hook United FC 1 : 7 Fleet Town Colts Panthers

With some of the players and the manager just making kick off, we got off to a rather slow start. Once we got the pace of the game right we started to play but Hook were up for it and battling well. A great through ball from Ben H sent Ethan streaking down the left and a great shot across the keeper in to the bottom corner of the goal. Confusion at a Hook corner followed and one of their giants stepped up and hit a shot from close range to level up. The boys picked themselves up as they knew they had not defended the corner well enough and were determined to put it right. Several great runs from James was giving the Hook defenders a nightmare. Pressing hard as a team, a clearance by the Hook keeper ricocheted off Ben S to put us back in front. Will kept us in front with a couple of breath-taking saves to lead us in to Half Time.

Half Time 1-2

The second half saw us continue to improve and we started trusting our ability. With Jamie and Ben H bossing the midfield; Luke imperious at the back, we were looking very good. A great move down the right saw Aston flying to the by-line and he whipped in a cross for Ben O’C to put it through the keepers legs for 1-3. More great work across the midfield found Josh free, who drove at the goal and smashed it past the keeper for 4. We were now moving into gear, with Jamie constantly winning possession and looking to pass, it was causing Hook all kind of problems. His midfield partner, now Hugo, went through and neatly took his chance with a great left footed shot for 5. A long throw from Aston caused panic in the penalty area and Ben O’C pounced with a tap in for 6. Our seventh saw Hugo pick out Ben O’C with a ball over the top and Ben raced on to it and calmly lobbed the on rushing keeper from outside the box for his hat trick. A magnificent seven for the boys today and a great all-round team performance.
