Panthers hit four to win local derby!

Premier Division Friendly Match

Panthers 4 : 1 Fleet Spurs

Today was the classic game of two halves. In the first half we were slow and second to most balls, particularly in the air, to a big and physical side. Our passing was poor and we just couldn’t get going. Some great saves from Will kept us in it until a huge bobble saw the ball bounce up and over Will and in to the net. A very unlucky goal, but we deserved to be behind. We finished the half a bit better and their keeper also made a couple of good saves to stop us levelling up.

Half Time – Panthers 0 : 1 Fleet Spurs

With just 9 players available today, so no substitution options, we had to find our inspiration from within at half time and we certainly did that. The boys were told how to tighten up their defensive work and that we needed to move the ball quicker as a team. Luke, Kieran and Ethan were now winning everything at the back and using the ball intelligently and calmly to start each phase of our play. Hugo and Jamie in midfield began to dominate and were now solid in the tackle and then quick with the pass. Our first goal was all about Ethan. Having had a couple of efforts saved with his right foot, this time he took aim with his left foot and smashed it in the top corner. Archie was working very well down the right and giving their left back all sorts of problems. Combining with Jamie the ball broke into the box and a quick shot across the goal saw the defender pressured in to putting it in his own goal. 2:1 to the Panthers. More great work from Archie and Hugo this time finishing with Ben O’C hitting a shot that was too much for the keeper to hold. The ball came out to Ben S who struck it hard into the top of the goal 3:1 to the Panthers. By now the boys were playing some great football and our final goal was a great move. The ball moved quickly from the back through the team. It found Ben S who played a lovely diagonal through ball to Ben O’C who raced on to it, with the keeper rushing out, and hit it first time low and hard in to the bottom corner. 4:1 to the panthers
