Harriers Claim First Win of the Season

Fleet Town Colts Harriers 5
Hersham Youth 2

The Harriers may have left it until the penultimate match of the season to record their first victory but it was well worth the wait. Some stylish play from the Harriers saw them record a convincing win against Hersham this morning. The opening goal was scored by Ollie who bravely met a through ball that looked to be going out, followed promptly by a collision with the post which saw him have to leave the field of play for the rest of the game. The Harriers then missed a chance to double their lead after a push on James in the penalty area from which James saw the resulting penalty saved. Undeterred the Harriers extended their lead with some nice individual play from Bryn who saw his shot parried but then steered it goal-bound. Hersham then pulled one back from a well taken goal at the near post. The Harriers continued to press and were awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal when Harry was fouled. Max stepped up and unleashed a fantastic shot into the top left hand corner.

After some strong words at half time the Harriers came out determined to claim their first win of the season but Hersham stood firm and grabbed a second following a strong run from their central midfielder. Dan then hooked a ball home from Max’s corner and the Harriers began to believe the win was in their grasp. James rounded off the scoring with a fine goal beating two players before slotting the ball past the keeper.

Great win Harriers.
