I am not sure even Ray Winston would have bet on this score line at half-time, but some great attacking play by the boys got its full reward this week. With both teams down to 6 players there was always going to be a lot of space, but it still needed to be made the most of by passing and moving the ball well. On the whole we did this pretty well in the first half and created opportunities, but Farncombe also played some good stuff at times and it took until about mid-way through the first half before we got our goal with Ollie racing through on the break and to slot home. Farncombe also created chances, but some solid defensive play meant that they couldn’t break through and the game was still finely balanced as the half-time whistle went.
Who knows what Mel had injected into the half-time fruit, but I think we need to use it every week as the boys went on to score a number of goals in the second half. I can’t remember the exact order of the goals but Ollie, Jake, Harvey and James all added to our total. The final score was harsh on Farncombe, but we know from personal experiences against Badshot and Onslow that sometimes when the goals start flowing you just can’t stop them. That said we played a lot of games this season when we have dominated play and not scored, but Sunday was one of those days when everything went in.
Man of the Match: Ollie – Scored goals and played a big hand in assisting most of the others which was great to see
Effort Award: James – another impressive display this week with Oscar in defence which gave us the platform to push on – topped off with goal!
Thanks to Mel for her “miracle fruit”
